Overcoming difficulties is the spirit of innovation.

2023/08/31

During production, the paper cutter suddenly began generating a large number of tiny black spots, severely compromising the appearance of the paper and the quality of printing. Identifying the root cause and resolving the issue have thus become the top priority for paper-cutting operations. Inspection of the base paper coming off the rewinder revealed no problems, narrowing the focus to the paper cutter itself—specifically, a malfunction of the equipment.

Upon completion, the section supervisor, Che Daping, immediately contacted the equipment maintenance team and conducted a detailed analysis of the cause of the “black spot” paper defect. The investigation pointed to dust blown out by the blower duct as the likely culprit. The maintenance personnel then disassembled the blower duct and used compressed air to blow out any accumulated dust; however, after the machine was restarted, the black spots persisted, leaving the root cause still elusive and the problem seemingly stuck in a dead end.

Faced with the serious challenges posed by “black spots” to production operations, Lane Ping, as the supervisor in charge, decided to dismantle the ductwork to get to the bottom of the problem. He had all the blow-off ducts removed and meticulously inspected the sources of dust accumulation. With the assistance of the paper-cutting operators, Lane Ping and his colleagues disassembled every blow-off duct and thoroughly cleaned the interiors. The cleaning process uncovered a significant amount of accumulated dust, which pinpointed the root cause of the so-called “small black spots.” At the same time, Lane Ping arranged for similar internal cleanings of the blow-off ducts on all other paper-cutting machines. Following this incident, Lane Ping also discovered that the original blowers’ air inlets were completely open, with no dust-control measures in place. To prevent such incidents from recurring, the workshop decided to design and install dust-proof covers at the air inlets, ensuring unobstructed airflow while effectively preventing dust from entering.

Team leader Che Daoping meticulously disassembled the ductwork to investigate the root cause, uncovering the underlying issues. This not only resolved the problem at hand but also spurred innovation in the design and installation of the wind shield, thereby effectively ensuring the quality and efficiency of equipment production. By addressing one issue, advancing a new technology, and establishing a robust safeguard, Che Daoping and his colleagues have exemplified the Hongta Renheng spirit of craftsmanship.
