Sweat it out on the court, let youth shine—Hongta Renheng 2019 New and Veteran Employee Basketball Challenge

　　As the reigning champions of last year’s inter-platform basketball tournaments in China’s paper industry, the Hongta Renheng Company basketball team received an invitation earlier this month to participate in a friendly match for 2019 fresh graduates. The company’s trade union promptly coordinated with the team to accept the challenge and undertook extensive pre-event publicity and organizational efforts to mobilize employees from all departments to attend and support the game. This initiative provided a platform for both new and veteran employees to showcase their skills, fostered a civilized, energetic, and positive corporate atmosphere, and strengthened interpersonal connections among staff. On August 9, the Hongta Renheng 2019 New vs. Veteran Employees Basketball Challenge was held at the Qianshan Plant basketball court.

　　Ren Xiaoping, Party Secretary and General Manager of Huaxin Packaging, arrived at the court ahead of time to join the company’s basketball team, the Wolves, as they took on the challenge posed by the newly hired graduates of the current year—the Stars. Several company leaders, this year’s new graduates, and numerous basketball enthusiasts from across the company were in attendance, creating an electrifying atmosphere on site.

　　The day of the event was exceptionally hot, but that did not dampen anyone’s enthusiasm. As the referee tossed the basketball high into the air and it came crashing down, the whistle blew—marking the official start of the challenge match. The cheerleaders on both sides held up their signboards, shouting, jumping, and cheering as if their voices were fueling the battle between their respective teams. Amid the rising and falling waves of support, the atmosphere grew increasingly electric, and the athletes quickly found their rhythm, showcasing their skills to the fullest. Every thrilling moment earned thunderous applause, boosting the players’ confidence and allowing them to compete with composure and ease. The athletes’ dazzling steals, seamless passes, and pinpoint shots kept spectators on the edge of their seats, offering a feast for the eyes.

　　In the fourth quarter, the battle intensified, and the score gap began to widen. Despite trailing, the Star Team in blue displayed a fierce determination to win. Leveraging their height advantage and youthful energy, they launched a relentless offensive against the Wolf Team in red.

　　At the start of the second quarter, the Wolves suddenly switched to a defensive-to-offensive strategy: they conserved their energy while simultaneously rousing the Stars’ fighting spirit, stirring up the young players and igniting their competitive fire. Faced with the Wolves’ blatant “provocation,” the Stars responded with remarkable composure and poise, steadily chipping away at the deficit and keeping the game tantalizingly close—right down to the wire.

　　At the end of the second quarter, the teams switched ends, and several seasoned basketball fans stepped in to offer the Star Team valuable advice and encouragement, eager to lend a helping hand. As play resumed, the new strategy appeared to pay off, with the Star Team relentlessly chipping away at the deficit and steadily closing the gap.

　　The start of the fourth quarter signaled that the true champion of tonight’s match was about to be decided, as both teams poured every ounce of their skill and determination onto the court. The once-complacent Wolf Team seemed to have returned to its true nature: its eyes gleamed with a green, firefly-like light, scanning the arena with fierce intensity, seizing every opportunity to score and securing each crucial point with steady precision. The Wolf Team’s unity and cooperation were every bit as formidable as a pack of wolves, sending shivers down the audience’s spines and pushing the atmosphere to a fever pitch once again. Meanwhile, the Star Team’s radiant starlight illuminated every spectator in the arena; its players showed no sign of slackening, playing methodically and steadily. Though the Wolf Team had extended its lead once more, their relentless perseverance shone as brilliantly as the stars in the night sky, deeply moving everyone in attendance. The clash between the Wolves and the Stars painted a breathtakingly beautiful scene. In the end, the Star Team fell just short, while the Wolf Team once again asserted its dominance as the rightful champion. After the game concluded, the warm, heartfelt handshakes exchanged by players from both sides perfectly embodied the spirit of “friendship first, competition second.”

　　The highlight of this tournament was rekindling the passion for sports among all employees who love athletic activities, strengthening friendships between new and veteran staff, and fostering a spirit of unity and collaboration. At the same time, the unique appeal of basketball showcased the vibrant youthful energy of Hongta Renheng’s workforce today.

　　Going forward, Hongta Renheng will continue to prioritize the enrichment of employees’ cultural and recreational lives, with a focus on promoting their physical and mental well-being.
