The Party Committee of China Paper Industry, upholding the principle of “staying true to our original aspiration and keeping our mission firmly in mind,” has steadfastly pursued “targeted poverty alleviation that empowers both aspirations and knowledge” by organizing a study tour for outstanding students from Yiyang County to the Greater Bay Area, enabling them to “step out of the mountains and see Zhuhai.”

2023/08/31

To implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches on “winning the battle against poverty” and to thoroughly put into practice the China Paper Industry Party Committee’s poverty-alleviation philosophy of “targeted poverty alleviation that empowers people with both aspiration and knowledge,” from August 5 to 9, the China Paper Industry Party Committee organized a study-and-exploration trip for more than 20 students from impoverished families in Zhaobao Town and Shangguan Town, Yiyang County, Luoyang City, Henan Province—its designated poverty-relief assistance recipients—titled “Leaving the Mountains to See Zhuhai.” The students visited and studied at Zhuhai Hongta Renheng Packaging Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the company, located in Zhuhai.

On August 6, at the “Yiyang County Outstanding Students Welcome Ceremony and Pairing Symposium on Poverty Alleviation—‘Leaving the Mountains to See Zhuhai’,” Ren Xiaoping, Secretary of the Party Committee of Hongta Renheng, and Zhang Hong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection, extended a warm welcome to the students and engaged in cordial exchanges with them. During the discussion, Ren Xiaoping expressed his hope that each student would enjoy good health, make physical exercise an integral part of their studies and daily life to safeguard their “capital for revolution”; cultivate a sound mind, stay true to their original aspirations, and strive to be upright and virtuous individuals; and study diligently, using knowledge to change their fate, so that through their own efforts they can leave the mountains behind, venture out into the wider world, seize more opportunities, broaden their horizons, and lead better lives. Following this, he presented commemorative schoolbags to the outstanding students, emphasizing that these bags should not only be filled with books for learning but also carry their dreams for the future.

Following the symposium, the company assigned dedicated staff to guide the students on a tour of the Hongta Renheng Paper Mill, where they gained firsthand experience of modern papermaking processes, state-of-the-art equipment, and cutting-edge technologies. Over the subsequent days, the students visited the world-renowned Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge and the elegant and culturally rich Yuanming New Garden, appreciating the beauty of both Zhuhai and Macao and witnessing the rapid transformation of our motherland. They also toured the Zhuhai Campus of Beijing Normal University and the Former Residence of Sun Yat-sen, cultivating a deep passion for learning and fostering a strong sense of patriotism through these educational visits. In Guangzhou, they visited the Whampoa Military Academy to trace the footsteps of earlier generations of revolutionaries, and explored the Guangzhou Science Center to experience advanced science and technology as well as sophisticated high-tech machinery and equipment, planting in their hearts the aspiration to work hard to shake off poverty and achieve prosperity, and to let knowledge change their destinies.

This event is part of the China Paper Industry Party Committee’s effort to internalize the principle of “staying true to our original aspiration and keeping our mission firmly in mind” and to translate it into concrete actions. It aims to inspire more children from impoverished mountainous areas to change their destinies and break free from the confines of the mountains through diligent study. As the saying goes, “Learning changes one’s destiny; knowledge shapes the future.” We hope that the participating students will equip themselves with knowledge, cultivate a lifelong sense of gratitude, and dedicate themselves to building their hometowns and giving back to society. Moreover, we encourage them to apply what they have learned, reflected upon, and contemplated during this trip to their daily lives and studies, striving hard, forging ahead with determination, and achieving meaningful results.

This event was hosted by the Party Committee of China Paper and organized by the Party Committee of Hongta Renheng, with more than 20 outstanding students from Zhaobao Town and Shangguan Town undertaking a study tour of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area. Village-based poverty-alleviation officials from China Paper, along with relevant leaders from the Yiyang County Party Committee and the Education Bureau, also attended the event.
