Li Hongfeng, President of China Chengtong, Conducts Research Visit to China Paper

2023/08/31

On October 23, Group President Li Hongfeng conducted a field inspection at the headquarters of China Paper, emphasizing the need to overcome challenges in achieving targets, focus on strengthening operational capabilities, and formulate development strategies in a scientific and evidence-based manner. The inspection was accompanied by Dan Zhongli, Deputy Secretary of the Group Party Committee, and Vice Presidents Li Yousheng and Tong Laiming. Members of the China Paper leadership team also attended the briefing session.

After listening to a briefing on China Paper’s operating performance for January–September of this year, Li Hongfeng highly commended the company’s contributions to the Group’s reform and development. He noted that over the past three years, China Paper has achieved significant improvements in its foundational management, implemented proactive and effective cost-reduction and efficiency-enhancement measures, and built a young, energetic, and dynamic workforce—all of which demonstrate that the company’s leadership team is well-managed and that the organization has cultivated strong internal capabilities.

Li Hongfeng identified the principal shortcomings hindering the development of China’s paper industry and set forth the following requirements for the industry’s leadership team: First, overcome pressure and strive to achieve the annual budget targets, thereby creating favorable conditions for future growth. Second, cultivate a stronger sense of urgency, enhance operational capabilities, strengthen competitive edge, promote synergistic development between traditional business segments and new business segments, and endeavor to position the company as an industry leader. Third, conduct thorough assessments of future changes and formulate a well-grounded 14th Five-Year Plan; amid a slowdown in economic growth, diligently fulfill the political, social, and economic responsibilities of a central state-owned enterprise, contribute to stable growth, and ensure the healthy and steady development of China’s paper industry.

The meeting also reviewed China Paper’s key priorities for the near term. Heads of the Group’s Financial Management Department, Financial Services Department, and Legal Affairs Department, as well as heads of relevant departments at China Paper, attended the briefing session.
